Advanced Business English Japan
For over twenty years, I have been teaching Japanese students International Presentations and Intercultural Meetings and Discussions, and to non-Japanese working in Japan, I have taught Working in Japan-Top Ten Misunderstandings.
Before coming to Japan, I taught English for ten years to advanced students in Montreal and Vancouver. I found that students need flexible Business English: the real-time ability to balance politeness and power according to each topic, and their listeners’ personalities and cultural communication styles. This allows students to achieve both their business goals and good business relationships.
For my Masters in Education dissertation, I developed flexible Business English into seminar form, combining presentation and meeting English with strategies to avoid Intercultural Communication misunderstandings.
I have taught these seminars at:
- Aisin AW, ANA-Star Alliance, Astellas Pharma, Babcock-Hitachi
- Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma, Hakko, Hitachi Zosen
- Japan Steel Works, Kobe Customs, Kuraray
- Mitsubishi Kagaku, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
- Nabtesco, Nippon Boehringer Ingelheim, Nitto Denko
- OMRON, Osaka Customs, Shimano, Shionogi, Sojitz
- Sumika Bayer Urethane, Sumitomo Denso, Sysmex
- Takeda Pharmaceutical, Taoka Chemical, Teijin
- Toyo Gomu, Tsubakimoto Chain
